The more important things to know about me are (in no particular order):
I love my family and most importantly my kids…they are the reason I am living better… always.
In the world of cats and dogs ~ I choose dog every time!
I am a sucker for a flash mob, touching videos, hallmark commercials and great inspirational quotes.
I am an avid, aging, athlete however I still love everything about sports.
I am happiest when I am busy and juggling many things.
I am a DIY home improvement enthusiast and wannabe gardener.
I despise just about everything to do with cooking, I hate when people eat all of my hard work.
My sense of humor is my best attribute and I especially love to laugh so hard I cry. (Practical jokes are my forte!)
I love writing and I actually really enjoy public speaking. (Writing a book is much harder than I anticipated!)
I LOVE to travel … around the world and down the street!
My life motto is definitely “the only mistake is not to begin…” but my epitaph will read “Wouldn’t it be cool if ..”
In my college yearbook there is a picture of me riding a camel.
I love to meet people through my work, writing, website, and social media… so, Hello!

The stories in this book are first-hand experience, whether as a teacher, a professional organizer, a school administrator, an executive, or most importantly as a parent. They are the stories that thousands of families have brought to me over decades of being there to listen. My experience is based not just on my own family, but from working with so many families of all shapes and sizes facing all kinds of challenges.
My experience includes working with freshmen in college as an assistant to the Dean as well as helping families with infants while managing a multi-site child care center. With a degree in counseling psychology and experience as a middle school teacher and administrator, I do feel I have seen it all, or as I like to say, I’ve worked with children from cradle to college.
The funny part of this “organizing” journey is that I started in the middle. When I became a parent, I knew far more about the early adolescent years than I did about caring for babies. However, since I knew where my babies were headed, I started preparing them at a very young age. Sometimes it is better to know the destination, than the exact path that will take you there.
I am not a perfect parent, no one is and I have three children who will back up this fact happily. Parenting is always a work in progress. While I am okay with proclaiming that I am an “organizing expert”, I struggle with anyone who wants to classify me as a parenting expert. I have been introduced to audiences and quoted in print as a “parenting expert” and it never sits well with me. I do believe there are parenting experts, many millions of them and they reside with the children they care for day in and day out. You are the expert for your child.
My singular advantage has been the privilege of working with thousands of families and learning through their trials and tribulations in addition to my own. I have witnessed so many families raise truly great children. This book strives to pull those families common themes together in an effort to help you with your children as I strive to help myself with my own. True experts know they do not have all the answers.
